Frequently Asked Questions
Once you select a new device, you’ll be asked to tell us a bit about your trade-in. Next, you will get an estimated value of your trade-in. Once Assurant has received your device, they will determine the final value. This value is applied as a credit on your next bill. Learn more about device credit.
Post-Purchase Trade-In (PPTI) is designed to make upgrading easier. With PPTI, you can trade in an eligible phone for up to 30 days after buying a new device. That gives you the flexibility to upgrade first and trade in your old phone later online, in a Spectrum store or with a customer service agent.
PPTI also includes:
- Clear trade-in values
- Transparent pricing
- No hidden fees
- Simple, seamless trade-in experience
On any Spectrum Mobile plan, you will receive the value of your trade-in based on your device condition plus you may get an extra $100 or more off toward your new device. You can find out more from the Trade-In Program FAQs.
We currently accept phones and tablets as long as they meet the trade-in standards. We cannot accept trade-ins for smartwatches at this time.
For Trade-in transactions, you will receive your credits over equal installments toward the device payment plan on the newly purchased Spectrum device. If you paid in full for your new device, you will receive a one-time account level credit. Learn more about device credit.
You can track the status of your trade-in by accessing Spectrum’s trade-in portal after mailing your device. The link will be emailed after you complete your Spectrum device purchase.
To qualify for our trade-in program, your device must meet the following requirements:
- It's paid in full
- It's able to turn on
- It has no liquid damage
- It has been restored to factory settings
- It must be removed from anti-theft features and can't be listed as lost/stolen
Damaged phones are still eligible for trade-in. Devices are evaluated on a Good, Fair or Poor scale.
To maximize your trade-in credit value, make sure your phone meets the requirements above, has a functioning display that’s free of major cracks and its actual condition matches your report.

If we receive your device after the offer expiration date, we will evaluate it and provide an adjusted trade-in offer based on its current value. If you accept the adjusted offer, or do not respond within the specified timeframe, we will proceed with the trade-in using the adjusted offer amount. If you reject the adjusted offer, your device will be returned to you.
If you do not return your device, we will be unable to complete the trade-in process and your trade-in request will be canceled.
